소녀가 실종되었다는 제보를 받고 독실한 기독교 신자인 하우이 경사는 스코틀랜드의 서마아일 섬으로 향한다.

섬의 교회는 문을 닫았고 사람들은 기독교 이전의 종교를 믿으며 살아간다.
