it’s completely unnecessary for Vincenzo to buy Cha Young a new outfit and some jewellery. CY doesn’t need new clothes in order to act like V’s gf, but he says his ‘partner wouldn’t wear that’. The gallery manager wouldn’t know that V’s ‘ideal’ gf wouldn’t wear the suit CY is wearing. He’s deliberately making the situation as close to reality as possible.
일단, 왜 사주니? (ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ) 여친으로 위장하는데 차영이 새옷 필요없잖아 근데 굳이 '내 파트너는 그런 옷 안 입어요'라고 말하는 거 뭔데 센조의 이상적인 여친은 차영이가 첨 입었던 옷을 안 입을 거란 걸 갤러리 관장이 알 리도 없잖아 (결론) 위장 상황을 현실에 근접하게 만들고 있다
take a look at the dress CY ends up wearing. It’s gorgeous, but it’s not what we’d typically see in similar ‘man-picking-out-clothes-for-a-woman’ scenes in media. There was the danger that this scene could be a little male gaze-y, but V doesn’t pick out the stereotypical revealing, skimpy outfit we may expect. He picks a dress, keeping it feminine, but the length hits below the knees and it’s not revealing at all. In fact, it’s a suit silhouette - something we frequently see CY wear. V has picked something he knows she’ll be comfortable in and a style she is familiar with. He’s not pushing her out of her comfort zone, but merely elevating it. In doing this he is acknowledging her power and status and showing his respect for her as a lawyer, and keeping it ultra classy.
센조가 골라준 드레스 살펴보자 (남성의 시각 male gaze으로 장면 연출하지 않은 걸 좋아함)
- 선정적이지 않음 (근데 이건 센조 스탈만 봐도 너무나도 예측가능)
- 여성스럽지만 feminine 노출은 없다 not revealing at all
- 수트 실루엣으로 차영이가 흔히 입는 스타일임
- 즉 차영이가 익숙하고 편히 입을 수 있는 스타일로 골라줌
- he's not pushing her out of her comfort zone 그녀의 (심리적) 안전지대를 벗어나지 않으면서 but merely elevating it (한 단계) 격을 더 높인 옷을 골라줌
- In doing this 그렇게 함으로써 he is acknowledging her power and status 그녀의 파워와 지위를 존중해주고 and showing his respect for her as a lawyer 변호사 신분에 대한 경외심을 보여주고 and keeping it ultra classy 최상의 품격을 유지함
Finally, the jewellery!! We know kdrama loves a good PPL and this is no exception. But again, it’s similar to something CY might wear (hello fabulous ear cuff), she’s visibly excited at the sight of it so he’s nailed her taste. Again, it’s a totally unnecessary touch. There’s literally no need to give her jewellery, other than the fact he thinks it looks great on her and that it’s what he would do if she were actually his gf. The man clearly doesn’t do ‘fake’ dating well, lol.
주얼리도 마찬가지. 차영이가 평소 착용하는 것과 비슷해서 선물할 필요 없지만 굳이 선물하고 차영이가 좋아하는 것만 봐도 그녀의 취향을 매우 잘 파악하고 있다는 걸 확인할 수 있음. 그치만 필요없다고. (ㅋㅋㅋ) 필요없는데 굳이 선물하는 건 첫째, 잘 어울릴 거라고 생각하니까 둘째, 만약에 홍차가 여친이라면 센조가 할 법한 선물이니까
결론. 위장 데이트 참 못 하는 남자.
