Before Dick Wolf co-opted the city of Chicago for his TV empire, the city was home to two different long-running medical series, which (fun fact!) premiered the day before another Chicago-set medical drama — "ER." It, too, was critically acclaimed, and won multiple Emmys and a Golden Globe.
