The Duchess of Cambridge today highlighted the invaluable role of foster carers as she attended an awards ceremony in London, wearing a beautiful cobalt blue dress


With a spring tour of India just announced, Kate Middleton took inspiration from the East in a stunning dress by an Indian designer


She wore her hair half-up, half-down, with the ends curled into soft ringlets


Kate is greeted by Kevin Williams, chief executive of The Fostering Network, as she arrives at the 2015 Fostering Excellence Awards in London


Her own children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, will not be forgotten at the awards


The Duchess will be given beautiful handmade quilts to take home for Prince George and Princess Charlotte


Kate smiles warmly as she walks in to meet&nbspKevin Williams, chief executive of The Fostering Network, with a handshake 


The Duchess was first given an overview of the world of fostering in January this year during a visit to The Fostering Network


In a foreword to tonight's awards programme, Kate wrote: 'It is fantastic that we are all gathered this evening to celebrate fostering and the truly transformational care that is a lifeline to so many. The people we will hear about tonight are truly extraordinary and show how good foster care changes children and young people's lives'

The 2015 Fostering Excellence Awards in London are being held at BMA House in London, and are being presented by Holly Willoughby

Kate met teens who have been taken in to care and gone on to live successful, independent lives including Emily, Sian and Adam, as well as Adam's foster mother Carol Webster


Kate pictured with TV presenter Holly Willoughby, who presented the awards. 'It's been incredibly humbling to be meeting so many amazing foster carers, their families and care-experienced young people who have achieved so much despite the enormous obstacles that have been in their way,' said Holly


Kate is presented handmade blankets for Prince George and Princess Charlotte by two smart-looking youngsters


'I would just like to say how delighted I am to be with you all,' Kate said, pictured here leaving the event.


'It's wonderful to meet so many remarkable and impressive people involved in the incredibly important world of fostering,' said Kate

Prince William was today pictured signing the book of condolences. He has vowed to attend a football match between England and France in a show of solidarity with the French people


The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's message read: 'To all those who have died and were injured in the heartless attacks in Paris, and to all the people in France'
