A professor of the University of the Philippines (UP) compared the COVID-19 “crisis, leadership, and accountability” to the troubles of the main character of popular Korean drama Crash Landing on You (CLOY).

In an online lecture, Dr. Kristoffer Berse of the UP-National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG) drew parallelisms between the TV show’s narrative and the reality of the Philippine response to the pandemic.

Berse’s online lecture “Crash Landing on ECQ: Crisis Leadership and Accountability in COVID-19 Philippines” was part of the UP Open University’s (UPOU) “Let’s Talk it Over” series that streamed May 5 on UPOU networks.

In the online lecture, organized by the UPOU Faculty of Management and Development Studies and the Association of Schools of Public Administration in the Philippines Inc., Berse compared the situation under ECQ to the “precarious situation” of CLOY character Yoon Se-ri, a South Korean heiress who finds herself hanging in a tree following a paragliding mishap.
