In early September, as fans waited for an encore at &TEAM’s third-anniversary event in Tokyo, a surprise film rolled through 1,097 days of memories and momentum. The final card teased: “LUNÉ, are you ready?” Then a second reveal, the louder one by far. “Korea Debut.” That’s when the countdown officially began.

 

9월 초, 도쿄에서 열린 &TEAM의 3주년 이벤트에서 팬들이 앵콜을 기다리던 중 1,097일간의 추억과 모멘텀을 담은 깜짝 영상이 흘러나왔다. 마지막 카드 예고: “LUNÉ, 준비됐어?” 그리고 이어지는 대형 발표. “한국 데뷔.” 그 순간부터 공식적인 카운트다운이 시작됐다.

 

 

 

That highly anticipated chapter comes in the form of Back to Life, &TEAM’s first Korean mini album, which dropped on October 28, 2025. It also happens to follow a run that would be ambitious for any young act. Having debuted in December 2022 as HYBE’s first Japan-based global group, &TEAM spent the next few years on a sprint. They tore through 2024 with four major releases, more than 300 Japanese TV appearances, and a social footprint that doubled in a year. Then, in April 2025, their third single “Go in Blind” crossed the one-million mark in shipments, earning a Million certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan. If that wasn’t impressive enough, they also closed a 15-show, nine-city Asia tour titled AWAKEN THE BLOODLINE, then came home to announce their latest live wire debut that expands their map and their voice.

 

많은 기대를 모은 이 챕터는 2025년 10월 28일에 발매된 &TEAM의 첫 번째 한국 미니 앨범  Back to Life 형태로 찾아왔다. 그리고 젊은 아티스트라면 누구나 야심차게 시도할 만한 행보를 이어간다. 2022년 12월 HYBE의 첫 일본 기반 글로벌 그룹으로 데뷔한 &TEAM은 그 후 몇 년을 전력 질주했다.  2024년에는 네 번의 주요 앨범 발매, 300회 이상의 일본 TV 출연, 그리고 1년 만에 두 배로 늘어난 소셜 풋프린트를 기록했다. 2025년 4월에는 세 번째 싱글 “Go in Blind”가 일본 음반 산업 협회로부터 밀리언 인증을 받으며 출하량 100만 장을 돌파했다. 여기서 끝이 아니었다. 15회 공연, 9개 도시를 아우르는 아시아 투어 AWAKEN THE BLOODLINE을 성공적으로 마무리한 뒤, 고향에 돌아와 그들의 지도와 목소리를 넓히는 강렬하고 충격적인 데뷔를 발표했다.

 

In terms of the new release, the album concept began with a clear, studio-board certainty, with EJ explaining, “When we started working on Back to Life, we wanted to make clear that we’re beginning a new chapter—to expand our journey from Japan to the global stage and embrace new challenges along the way. Sonically, we wanted to share &TEAM’s unique and powerful musical identity with a wider audience around the world. Visually, the album continues our ongoing werewolf narrative, and through Back to Life’s powerful performances, we hope LUNÉ can experience and enjoy a new side of &TEAM.”

 

새 앨범의 콘셉트는 확실히 정해져있었다. EJ는 이렇게 설명했다. "Back to Life 작업을 시작했을 때, 저희는 새로운 장을 시작한다는 것을 분명히 하고 싶었습니다. 일본에서 글로벌 무대로 여정을 확장하고 새로운 도전을 받아들이는 것이죠. 음악적으로 &TEAM의 독특하고 강력한 음악적 정체성을 전세계의 더 많은 청중과 공유하고 싶었습니다. 시각적으로는 우리가 진행 중인 늑대인간 서사를 이어가고 있으며, Back to Life의 강력한 퍼포먼스를 통해 LUNÉ가 &TEAM의 새로운 면모를 경험하고 즐길 수 있기를 바랍니다."

 

On the title track, they lean into a punchy rock and hip-hop blend that feels both feral and precise, the kind of song built to snap their wolf mythology fully into focus onstage. “Lunatic” plays like its wild-hearted counterpart, channeling the rush of finally stepping out of the dark and into open air, a streak of liberation that pushes their lore into something brighter and more unrestrained.

 

 

타이틀곡은 록과 힙합이 절묘하게 어우러진 강렬한 사운드로, 무대 위에서 늑대 신화를 생생하게 구현해낸다. 특히 수록곡 ‘Lunatic’은 어둠을 벗어나 빛 속으로 나아가는 해방의 에너지를 담아, 기존의 서사를 더 밝고 자유로운 방향으로 확장한다.

 

From there, the frame widened. Where does that vision land most vividly on the record? Well, according to the group, the entirety of the album. “Back to Life includes six new songs across a variety of genres, such as rock, hip-hop, retro, and R&B. This album really showcases the versatility and unique colors of &TEAM,” YUMA notes. “We put a lot of effort and heart into preparing it, so we truly hope LUNÉ will enjoy every track. We are also working hard to meet more LUNÉs around the world, and we hope this album becomes the foundation for us to go on a world tour and perform at music festivals in the future as well.”

Somewhere in the rush of writing, recording, and rehearsal, growth revealed itself in unplanned ways, too. “I was really surprised by how quickly we memorized the choreography for Back to Life. We didn’t have much time to practice together as a group of nine this time, so when we did, everyone focused intensely, and we managed to learn the choreography together in just two days,” MAKI divulges. “I think that really shows how much &TEAM has grown in terms of teamwork and dedication.” 

 

작사, 녹음, 리허설의 바쁜 틈바구니 속에서 성장은 계획되지 않은 방식으로도 드러났다. MAKI는 “Back to Life 안무를 얼마나 빨리 외웠는지 정말 놀랐다”고 털어놓았다. “이번엔 9명 모두 함께 연습할 시간이 많지 않았는데, 막상 모였을 때 모두가 강하게 집중해서 단 이틀 만에 함께 안무를 완성했어요. &TEAM이 팀워크와 헌신 면에서 얼마나 성장했는지 보여주는 사례라고 생각해요.”

 

That shared sense of teamwork specifically resonates with NICHOLAS, who co-signs MAKI’s sentiment. “I would say teamwork as well. Even though our time was very limited, we managed to finish both the recording and the choreography smoothly. We also filmed a music video that I personally feel very proud of. It was all possible thanks to everyone’s effort and hard work.”

For listeners meeting &TEAM through this Korean debut, the starting point is identity. Nine members, nine distinct profiles, one shared vision in music. Because the group’s ethos has always been about bridging worlds, equal parts discipline and spark. “&TEAM is a Japan-based global group that formed through an audition program and is now stepping onto the world stage,” FUMA says, offering newcomers the group’s essential, core pitch. “Through this release, I hope people can learn about the journey that &TEAM has come so far in— and where we’re heading onwards.”

Many would also argue that performance has been the group’s guiding light since day one, and thankfully, this era treats the stage like a co-writer. Choreography shapes how the songs breathe. Camera work and set design turn motifs into scenes. But above all, Back to Life treats movement as a message. K explains, “The performance for Back to Life required a lot of attention to details and subtle nuances. This was a new challenge for us, not only to learn the choreography but also to synchronize our performance as a group. While preparing for this album, we realized once again how challenging it is to stay in sync, so we focused carefully on every detail when preparing our performance.”

 

많은 사람들은 처음부터 퍼포먼스가 이 그룹의 가장 중요한 방향성이었다고 말한다. 그리고 다행히도, 이 시대는 무대를 ‘공동 작곡가’처럼 다룬다. 안무는 노래가 숨 쉬는 방식을 형성하고, 카메라 워크와 세트 디자인은 모티프를 장면으로 바꾼다. 하지만 무엇보다도, 〈Back to Life〉는 움직임을 메시지로 다룬다. Still, every era for &TEAM functions like a high-energy, well-rounded production. Some elements carry forward for continuity. Others bend or crack to make room for reinvention. The connective tissue comes from tone, teamwork, and the framing of their narrative. So what remains unchanged, and what shifts on Back to Life? “I think our wolf backstory is what continues to shape our sound, so that intense, raw energy is what stays the same,” JO divulges. “What evolves are the new emotions and challenges we face with every release. Back to Life brings that evolution to life with a dynamic rock hip-hop melody. It's a sound that really engages listeners, drawing them into a new, significant chapter of our emotional journey. We hope everyone can feel that same dynamic energy with us.” 

 

그럼에도, &TEAM의 모든 순간은 늘 에너지 넘치고 완성도 높은 하나의 프로덕션처럼 작동한다. 어떤 요소들은 그룹의 ‘연속성’을 위해 이어지고, 또 다른 것들은 새로움을 위해 과감히 뒤틀리거나 깨진다. 이들을 하나로 엮는 연결 고리는 톤, 팀워크, 그리고 그들이 만들어가는 서사다. 그렇다면 변하지 않은 것과 〈Back to Life〉에서 새롭게 달라진 것은 무엇일까? JO는 이렇게 말한다. “우리의 늑대 세계관이 여전히 우리 음악의 근본을 이루고 있다고 생각해요. 그래서 강렬하고 거친 에너지가 변함없이 이어지고 있죠. 하지만 매 앨범마다 새로운 감정과 도전을 맞이하며 진화해가는 부분도 있어요. 〈Back to Life〉는 그런 진화를 록 힙합의 다이내믹한 멜로디로 표현한 곡이에요. 리스너들을 새로운 감정의 장으로 끌어들이는 사운드입니다. 여러분도 저희와 함께 그 다이내믹한 에너지를 느낄 수 있으면 좋겠어요.”

 

All of that intention has started to show up in more measurable ways, too. While it should never be the driving force behind an artist, their numbers so far tell a story about timing and resonance. For example, when “Go in Blind” crossed a million in sales, it felt like a stamp of approval from the audience and proud fans. The more interesting part is what it meant internally: how success recalibrates drive, how it represents the hard work of an era, and where pride actually lands when the dust settles. As TAKI puts it, “Reaching the one-million mark is an incredible milestone for us, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support and love from LUNÉ. On top of that, our first Asia tour was incredibly meaningful—being able to meet LUNÉs face-to-face across Asia was an unforgettable experience.” 

 

이러한 모든 의도는 눈에 보이는 성과로도 나타나고 있다. 물론 숫자가 예술의 본질적인 동력이 되어서는 안 되지만, 지금까지의 수치는 &TEAM의 타이밍과 공명에 대해 말해준다. 예를 들어 〈Go in Blind〉가 판매량 100만 장을 돌파했을 때, 그것은 관객과 자랑스러운 팬들의 지지를 확인하는 승인 도장처럼 느껴졌다. 더 흥미로운 부분은 그 성취가 팀 내부에 어떤 의미로 다가왔느냐는 점이다. 성공이 어떻게 동력을 재조정하고, 한 시대의 노력과 성취를 어떻게 상징하며, 모든 것이 끝난 뒤 자부심이 어디에 자리 잡는가 하는 것. TAKI는 이렇게 전한다. “100만 장이라는 숫자에 도달한 건 우리에게 믿을 수 없을 만큼 큰 이정표예요. 그리고 그것은 전적으로 LUNÉ 여러분의 변함없는 사랑과 응원이 있었기에 가능한 일이었습니다. 게다가 첫 아시아 투어도 정말 뜻깊었어요. 아시아 곳곳에서 LUNÉ를 직접 만나고 교감할 수 있었던 건 평생 잊지 못할 경험이었어요.”

 

HARUA offers his take on the group’s major achievement, adding, “For me, I’m proud of the personal growth I experienced during that era. Go in Blind was our first choreography using blindfolds—and performing while managing that nervousness was a real challenge. Overcoming it helped me strengthen my mindset and gave me a deeper sense of confidence on stage.” 

 

HARUA는 그룹의 가장 큰 성과에 대해 이렇게 소감을 밝혔다. “저에게는 그 시기를 통해 개인적으로 성장할 수 있었다는 점이 가장 자랑스러워요. 〈Go in Blind〉는 우리가 처음으로 안대를 착용하고 선보인 퍼포먼스였는데, 시야가 가려진 상태에서 긴장을 다스리며 무대에 서는 건 정말 큰 도전이었어요. 하지만 그걸 극복하면서 마음가짐이 한층 단단해졌고, 무대에서 더 큰 자신감을 가질 수 있었습니다.”

 

 

Achievements like that rely on a catalog that keeps shifting shape without losing its center. And to date, the &TEAM discography sketches an incredibly versatile line. The group’s fireworks are literal in “FIREWORK,” cinematic in “Deer Hunter,” and entirely kinetic in “Run Wild.” The trick is avoiding whiplash while changing lanes. In ways, the through-line is precision and a performance vocabulary that reads as &TEAM even when the palette flips. MAKI is the first to address the topic, telling us, “Our discography spans a variety of genres, so we reinvent with each release, but at the heart of it, we have that strong, ongoing werewolf identity.”

He continues, “Whenever we create new music, we make sure to leave a trace of that concept. It could be in the lyrics, the choreography, or even a subtle sound like a wolf howling woven into the melody. That’s how we maintain a sense of continuity while still exploring new sounds.” What does this era teach that is worth carrying forward? From EJ’s perspective, it’s performance. “While preparing for this release, I focused a lot on live performance practice,” he tells us. “Singing while dancing requires a completely different set of skills, so I want to carry my live performance abilities into future releases as well.”

 

그는 이어서 이렇게 설명한다. “새로운 음악을 만들 때마다 우리는 항상 그 콘셉트의 흔적을 남기려고 해요. 가사 속에 담길 수도 있고, 안무의 한 동작일 수도 있고, 멜로디 속에 은근히 섞인 늑대의 울음소리처럼 미묘한 사운드일 수도 있죠. 그렇게 해서 우리는 새로운 사운드를 탐구하면서도, 동시에 일관성을 유지하는 거예요.”

이번 활동을 통해 앞으로도 이어가야 할 배움이 있다면 무엇일까? EJ의 시선에서 그 답은 ‘퍼포먼스’다. “이번 앨범을 준비하면서 라이브 퍼포먼스 연습에 정말 많은 시간을 쏟았어요. 노래하면서 춤을 추는 건 완전히 다른 종류의 기술이 필요하거든요. 그래서 앞으로의 활동에서도 제 라이브 퍼포먼스 능력을 계속 이어가고 싶습니다.”

 

Looking into their next era, growth seems inevitable based on their current trajectory. More hands-on studio time. A sharper ear for arrangement. Choreography ideas that change the pace. Directional instincts that shape visuals from mood board to final cut. Anything seems possible, and NICHOLAS specifically has his sights set on growth. “There are still many areas I want to improve, for example, singing is something I’m constantly pushing myself to grow in,” he admits when asked about the next phase. “Beyond that, I also want to grow in terms of rapping, songwriting, fashion, and filming. My [personal] goal is to become an all-rounder who can truly contribute to every aspect of our team as well as our future releases.”

 

다음 활동을 내다보면, 현재의 궤적을 봤을 때 성장은 불가피해 보인다. 스튜디오에서 작업 참여하는 시간이 더 많아지고, 편곡에 대한 감각도 더 예리해졌다. 흐름을 바꾸는 안무 아이디어도 늘어나고, 무드보드부터 최종 영상까지 비주얼을 형성하는 연출 감각도 향상될 것이다. 이제 무엇이든 가능해 보인다. 그중에서도 특히 NICHOLAS는 성장에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 다음 단계에 대한 질문에 그는 이렇게 답했다. “아직 발전시키고 싶은 부분이 많아요. 예를 들어 노래는 지금도 꾸준히 실력을 키우려고 노력하고 있는 분야예요. 그뿐만 아니라 랩, 작사·작곡, 패션, 영상 등 여러 방면에서도 성장하고 싶어요. 저의 [개인적인] 목표는 우리 팀과 앞으로의 음악 활동 전반에 진정으로 기여할 수 있는 올라운더가 되는 것입니다.”

 

Regardless of the recent plans for expansion, &TEAM’s reach has always been regional and global at once, rooted in Japan under HYBE JAPAN’s YX LABELS with a footprint that stretches across Asia and beyond. Back to Life finally meets that reality head-on, offering continuity for longtime listeners while opening a new vantage point for those arriving now.
